Cold crystallization technology

There are generally 2 methods of crystallization of high brine: one is the thermal crystallization method, which is suitable for substances where temperature has little effect on solubility. Coastal areas "sunshine salt" is the use of this method. The other is the cooling hot saturated solution method. This method is applicable to substances whose solubility increases when the temperature rises.

For example, in the northern region of the salt lake, the temperature is high in summer and no crystals appear on the surface of the lake; in winter, the temperature decreases and substances such as mannite are precipitated from the salt lake.

Evaporation concentration cooling crystallization

1)Introduction

First heating the solution, evaporating the solvent into a saturated solution, then lowering the temperature of the hot saturated solution, the solute whose solubility varies widely with temperature will be precipitated as a crystal, called cooling crystallization. For example: when the mixture of NaCl and KNO3 more KNO3 and less NaCl, you can use this method, first separate out the KNO3, in the separation of NaCl.

2)Characteristics of cooling cold crystallization

After cooling crystallization, the mass of solute becomes smaller

The mass of the solvent remains the same The mass of the solution becomes smaller

The mass fraction of solute becomes smaller

The state of the solution is saturated

(3) Principle

1. The principle of cooling crystallization is that the temperature decreases, the solubility of the substance decreases, the solution is saturated, and the excess solute that cannot be dissolved will precipitate out. The principle of evaporation crystallization is constant temperature or evaporation before and after the temperature remains unchanged, the solubility is unchanged, the water is reduced, the solution is saturated, that is, the excess solute will precipitate.

2. If the separation or purification of two soluble substances after mixing, who can easily reach saturation, who will use the crystallization method, such as sodium chloride contains a small amount of sodium carbonate impurities, we should use the crystallization method of sodium chloride that evaporation crystallization, and vice versa with cooling crystallization.

3, the solubility curve is obvious upward trend of the substance, its solubility with the temperature change, generally with cooling crystallization, solubility curve is slightly flat material, its dissolution with the temperature change is not large, generally with evaporation crystallization.
