Thermal crystallization technology
There are generally 2 methods of crystallization of high brine: one is the thermal crystallization method, which is suitable for substances where temperature has little effect on solubility. Coastal areas "sunshine salt" is the use of this method. The other is the cooling hot saturated solution method. This method is applicable to substances whose solubility increases when the temperature rises. For example, in the salt lake in the northern region, the temperature is high in summer and no crystals appear on the lake surface; in winter, the temperature decreases and substances such as mannite precipitate out of the salt lake.
Evaporative heat crystallization
Principle
Evaporative heat crystallization evaporates the solvent to change the solution from unsaturated to saturated, and continues to evaporate, the excess solute will be precipitated in crystals, called evaporative crystallization. For example, when the mixture of NaCl and KNO3 has more NaCl and less KNO3, this method can be used to separate out NaCl first and KNO3 in the separation.
The solubility curve can be observed, when the solubility increases significantly with the temperature, the solute is called steep rising type, and the opposite is called slow rising type.
When a steep-rise solution is mixed with a slow-rise solution, if you want to separate the steep-rise type, you can use the method of cooling crystallization to separate it, and if you want to separate the slow-rise solute, you can use the method of evaporation crystallization, that is, evaporation crystallization is suitable for substances whose solubility does not change much with temperature, such as: sodium chloride.
For example, potassium nitrate belongs to the steep rising type, and sodium chloride belongs to the slow rising type, so evaporation crystallization can be used to separate out sodium chloride, and also cooling crystallization can be used to separate out potassium nitrate.
