Air flotation process
Air flotation is an alternative to sedimentation in water treatment. It is a process of forming highly dispersed tiny bubbles in water, which adhere to hydrophobic solid or liquid particles in wastewater, forming a three-phase mixing system of water-gas-particles, and after the particles adhere to the bubbles, they form flocs with an apparent density smaller than water and float to the water surface, forming a scraping layer, thus achieving solid-liquid or liquid-liquid separation.
Air flotation is divided into super-efficient shallow air flotation, vortex air flotation, and advection air flotation. They are currently used in water supply, industrial wastewater and municipal wastewater treatment. The advantage of air flotation is that it is a solid-liquid separation equipment with less investment, small footprint, high degree of automation, easy to operate and manage, etc.
